  2. Money is spent more on farm subsidies and pensions. Ms Maitra, your West Bengal is still with Old Pension Scheme. So, no money left for even hiring full time policemen, and end up hiring civic volunteers.

  3. @TrollFreeInternet  In between, we had bank NPA crisis, ILFS NBFC crisis, Covid-19, 2 years of recovery after Covid, Russia-Ukraine war. Then the economically important farm laws were taken back. Important labour reforms are pending with state govts. With all that, whatever we are achieving now, is better than expected.

  4. A low hanging fruit is to handover MSP procurement to States. The money sunk in Punjab rice procurement, can be moved to UP/Bihar/Bengal instead. And in return, remove the petrol taxes. This will have greater bang for the buck, as Eastern state farmers will improve. Punjab meanwhile, must diversify.
