Actually, yes. Nehru gave Meiteis a bad deal, by restricting them to the valley, while giving ST status to everyone else, and giving land buying rights to them, all over the state but not to Meiteis.

@MihirS84 This is not about conversions. It is story of illegal infiltration. There are some Meitei Christians too and Nagas are also Christian. But Kukis don't care and they have clashed with both. It's pure tribalism. They would like you to believe it's about religion. Don't get misled. Part of the blame lies with Meitei leaders, who agreed to the unfair deal, just to be part of India. But after that, no one checked the illegal immigration of Chins from Myanmar. Kukis, Chins and Mizos arr related tribes. Nagas, Kukis and Mizos were Christian before independence. And they have fought each other, even then.

@alileevil Because the law favours minority. In Manipur, all tribes can buy land anywhere, but Meiteis are restricted from buying land outside the valley. And the Kuki tribes bring their Chin cousins from Myanmar and increasing population. Even other tribes from outside Manipur are allowed. But Meiteis who created the Manipur kingdom have been restricted. They were independent Hindu kingdom, and joined India and got a bad deal.

@habibi.Lhouvum Don't try to fool us. Govts keep changing. But laws remain same. If hills are protected, why not the valley too? And who is checking that, people living in the hills are actually Indian citizens? The fact that Kukis and Nagas have clashed much more in the past, shows that there is tension due to illegal migrants from Myanmar, and bad practices like jhum cultivation. Don't talk, as if all this is some new problem and only the Meiteis are to blame. The history tells different story.

@habibi.Lhouvum Study more? Lol! You think we don't read the news? There were Naga-Kuki clashes as recent as 2020. There were clashes all through 1950s, 1960s and 1990s. And last year, Naga council themselves said, Kukis were brought by British, as buffer between Nagas and Meiteis. And Nagas also said, if any Kuki land is created, then no hill territory should be touched. You stand exposed. 😂😂😂

@habibi.Lhouvum When 2 groups are saying, Kuki are outsiders and much more clashes happen b/w Naga and Kukis, then you can't just blame Meitei, if clashes happen once with them. If there was so much brotherhood b/w Kuki and Nagas, why don't they let you live in the hills? You stand exposed. You can make your Kukiland in Myanmar. We are not getting fooled.
