Problems of Punjab and Maharashtra are same. They are growing water-guzzling crops - rice and sugarcane, and destroying their land and water table. And this is affecting rural economy.

@phineasferb-t2i USA, Canada do provide subsidiew to farmers. But those countries have greater than 100% debt to GDP. They are getting away, just because of better credit rating by international rating agencies. USA ays 3.5% on its debt, India pays 7.7% .

@cs-mi8ur Bengal is getting low-skilled migrants because Bihar is more backward. The moment Bihar gets it's act together, this labour will dry up. That doesn't mean Bengal is doing great. Communist leaning bhadralok are rightfully blamed for Bengal's downfall. Similarly, the Jatt Sikh, who have caused deindustrialization of Punjab are rightfully blamed.

WTF? So, you are saying, UP and Bihar should not develop? Migrants from UP/Bihar will stop, as they are growing now. It is Punjabis that will now migrate to UP/Bihar, after Canada.

It's already worse than Sri Lanka. If Central govt stopped buying their rice and wheat, then Punjab will go bankrupt.
