I have been flabbergasted by this prevalent view in India, of justifying this war. It is a rare instance of unity between Right wing and Left wing. But as a rightist, I was disappointed by the lack of empathy towards nationalism of Ukrainians. This column and video, has articulated very well, the problems with such position.

@amritpalsingh3293 NATO doesn't expand, or face threat. Small countries of Europe, face threat from Russia and then pool their armies and resources together, by becoming part of NATO. It's an alliance of mutual defence. It's not an extension of US armed forces. It means, if Poland is attacked, then Greece, France, UK, Hungary, Netherlands and total 22 countries will come to its aid.

@varun2250 Correct. I second Arkajit's view. Just like Kashmir should stay with India, Donetsk and Luhansk should stay with Ukraine. And the Kashmiri separatism, is artificially provoked by Pakistan, just how Russia provoked separatism in Donetsk and Luhansk. We should maintain a consistency in our positions, or it could backfire. The average Kashmiri opinion in the Indian side, is divided 3 way. Some want independence, some want to go with Pakistan and some want to be with India. Due to development work of Modi, pro-India forces have improved. And many realize that independence will not be feasible, and Pakistan is in a pathetic situation. So, India is playing its cards right. But justifying Russia 's claim to Donbass, is a bad move, which can strengthen Pakistan 's game. Good that India maintained neutrality. We shouldn't support Putin's madness, just because Russia was good to us, in the past. Putin is not equal to Russia.

@saravananb2184 It is wrong to say, Kashmiris wanted to join Pakistan in 1947. Actually, they wanted to be independent, because Kashmiris are different from Punjabis. Pakistan attacked Kashmir because of which the Raja acceeded to India. The Afridi raiders pillaged everyone on the way to capturing Srinagar, until Indian Army pushed them back. Sheikh Abdullah played games with Nehru, to increase his personal power, but made sure Kashmir separatism was very less, until 1980s. After Abdullah died, Pakistan pushed Afghan jihadis, with American money to radicalize the youth which had regular problems of unemployment and poverty etc.

@varun2250 The end solution for Kashmir should be like any other state of India. Economic prosperity. Harmony between Kashmiri Muslim and Hindus. Zero terrorism and separatism.
