Let me tell you, what's really hurting the artisans - high electricity costs, and petrol taxes. One is imposed by state govts, and other is imposed by both State and Centre. And for what are those taxes being used? For salaries and pensions of lazy babus. Free electricity for water pumps to produce more rice. And for excess procurement of the same rice. We need to cut taxes at various levels of govt, by cutting down wasteful govt spending in various subsidies. We need to bring back the farm laws, that would fix the overproduction, by linking with market demand. Do crop diversification to not grow water-guzzling crops. And implement an Agniveer type scheme for govt employees. We need our own version of DOGE - Department of Government Efficiency, in India.
