NATO expansion is a red herring, Russia was invading and annexing countries long before NATO existed. Did the US annex Cuba? All they did was confront the Russians. I guess if the Russians want to confront the US that's fine. All they know how to do is bully countries they think are weaker then them.

  6. @Asphyxx Zelensky was the candidate Putin supported because he thought he would be weak and Russia could eat up Ukraine with no problem. That turned out not to be the case though, much to Russia's dismay.

  9. China does sail close to the US, the US doesn't respond by dangerously cutting them off though. The Chinese would do it more often but they 1. lack a blue water navy so its difficult for them to get over there and 2. they have no allies in the region so there's no reason for them to go over.

So Russia redeployed the VDV from Kharkiv to Kherson then Ukraine attacked Kharkiv, including capturing Izium the main logistics hub. By some accounts they captured more equipment there then they started the war with. Then they blew the bridges behind the Russians at Kherson so they couldn't be supplied and were forced to flee the only major city they'd captured.

  13.  @poppystars9005  Russia was supposed to remove its forces from Ukraine and withdraw support for the rebels, among other things it failed to implement. Russia violated Minsk on day one, of course there would be no Minsk if Russia hadn't violated the Budapest memorandum.

Most of Russia's holdings in Ukraine was before the invasion in 2022 or from the initial shock of the invasion. Since lines have stabilized Ukraine has taken much more then its lost. Oh and you forgot about Belgorod, Russia hasn't even fortified the border of the country they at war with for some reason.

Russia's other offensive was at Vulhedar where they drove into the same minefield over and over for no good reason. Russia also retreated from Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Izium and Kherson.
