@julianf9235 Prior to Russia's invasion in 2014 only around 10% of Ukrainians wanted to join NATO, the government was unwilling and unable to go through the necessary reforms and several countries in the alliance were opposed to the idea. Ukraine's chances of joining was effectively zero. Ukraine was invaded despite its neutrality. They are also a sovereign state that can join any organization the want, something Putin himself has said multiple times before when it suited him. Russia violated the Budapest memorandum in 2013 when Yanukovich tried to sign the EU association agreement and Russia enacted a trade embargo on Ukraine and sanctioned them.

@julianf9235 Oh that conspiracy. Folks repeating the claim have missed some important context from Nuland’s speech. Nuland was talking about money given since Ukraine broke away from the Soviet Union. The insinuation that the United States incited the people of Ukraine to riot or rebel is patently false.

@julianf9235 Also it wasn't a coup, it was a protest movement. It would be the only successful coup in human history that ended with the same government it started with. What happened was Yanukovich was voted out by 100% of parliament, including his own party when he tried to back out of the EU deal. His refusal to compromise led to the protests, he could have just called an election though, instead he fled the country.

Russia was supposed to withdraw its support for the rebels and withdraw its forces from Ukraine, they did neither. Russia violated Minsk on day one. Of course there would be no Minsk agreement if Russia hadn't violated the Budapest memorandum. Ukriane had already decided not to make peace with the Russians before they spoke to any country because 1. They know an agreement with Russia isn't worth the paper its written on and 2. They saw what Russia did at Bucha and Irpin.

With Ukraine joining the EU is unknown, though he's also said he has no problem with Ukraine joining NATO in the past. “I am absolutely convinced that Ukraine will not shy away from the processes of expanding interaction with NATO and the Western allies as a whole. Ukraine has its own relations with NATO; there is the Ukraine-NATO Council. At the end of the day the decision is to be made by NATO and Ukraine. It is a matter for those two partners.”

The world is not falling for the Russian Federation’s disinformation and propaganda ecosystem’s false claims about Bucha. International fact checkers and media outlets, have produced detailed analyses of the Kremlin’s false claims. It's also hilarious to have a Russian talk about propaganda with a straight face. Of course I don't blame you, you could get a long prison sentence if you do anything other than tow the Russian line.
