Imagine losing the battle of the black sea to a country with no navy, yikes.

@x0xain137 Afghanistan won, so did the Chechens. Try not to cry.

@anberrific7300 around 3% of NATO's annual budget is helping Ukraine, mostly in the form of old equipment destined for the scrap heap. The supposed worlds #2 army has lost half its fighting force and cant even take the Donbas, which is a few hours drive from Moscow.
35
@nemanja162 There were two Chechen wars genius.
16
@I_Love_Lord Russia's grain blockade has failed and they've retreated from Sevastopol and the western black sea after losing close to two dozen ships including their flagship and a submarine. Not sure what you think losing looks like, but ok.
15
@JohnCSmith-lp1qr Let me know when Russia manages to take the Donbas, they've only been trying for 9 years now.
13
@JohnCSmith-lp1qr Russia lost so hard in Afghanistan their whole country collapsed. The US occupied Afghanistan for 20 years while the Taliban hid in caves in Pakistan. It was the Afghan government that lost to the Taliban. Russia was never able to get to the occupation stage though, much like they arent in Ukraine. Russia wishes their invasion went 10% as well as the US Afghan invasion. As I said above there were two Chechen wars. Russia was humiliated in the first one and were getting humiliated in the second one until Kadyrov turned coat. Now Russia gets to pay Billions (in USD not Rubles) every year in subsidies (bribes) to keep the Chechens onside. Moscow bribes account for 80-82 percent of Chechnya's annual budget, what a deal.
13
@I_Love_Lord Imagine if the US invaded Mexico. Then after close to two years of WW1 attrition warfare and six figure casualties the US only controlled 15% of Mexico. After losing over half of the territory they once occupied, and were losing in the Gulf of Mexico and was forced to retreat its navy as far away from Mexico as they could. and said something like; "Its an ongoing war. Winning and losing will be determined once the war is over." Would that be something you take serious? Or would you get second hand embarrassment from reading something so dumb?
8
@I_Love_Lord It resulted in a Taliban victory over the Afghan government. The US wasn't trying to occupy Afghanistan until the end of time, there hadn't been an attack on coalition forces for years. They just left. Its like saying that because Germany is now hostile to Russia and supplying Ukraine with weapons that Russia somehow lost WW2.
7
@eouzcuemarz3114 Everyone, Russia and Ukraine included, expected Russia to roll over Ukraine in a matter of days. Putin said he could take Ukraine in 2 weeks. A stalemate is the same as victory for Ukraine. Russia has lost half its army and cant even take the Donbas. 3% of NATO's annual budget in aid, mostly in the for of old stock, Russia has spent the past 20 years stroking themselves off as the worlds number 2 army. A supposed superpower should be able to take the Donbas at least, its only a few hours drive from Moscow.
5
@mdumisenihlophe4001 It wasn't NATO that parked Russia's ships in range of Ukrainian weapons it was Russian incompetence.
5
@JaimeSalazar-wm6dh It was a corvette and it was struck by multiple missiles, nobody uses battleships anymore. The much larger Moskva was struck by two Neptune missiles and it sank. Have seen the pictures of the damage? Its a total write off. Dry your eyes.
4
@muneebbhat3928 Like how Russia is dreaming of using Sevastopol harbor but were forced to flee.
3
@JohnCSmith-lp1qr The EU, US and Canada are all discussing sending the 300 billion or so in frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.
3
@domzbu The US didn't put their military in Ukraine you make no sense. Mexico and Canada also have no fear of the US invading them while Ukraine (all of Russia's neighbors really) fear a Russian invasion. 2014 is when Russia began its invasion violating the Budapest memorandum. Ukraine then received nominal support from a few countries, nothing very serious until Russia began its full scale invasion in 2022.
3
nsmr925 Were you aware that the US isn't actually fighting in this war?
3
@JohnCSmith-lp1qr More whataboutism to hide your shame. Dry your eyes. Was it more embarrassing then losing an order of magnitude more forces then the US in half the time? That's what Russia did in Afghanistan, then their whole empire collapsed, oops. I don't remember any hour long montage of farmers hauling off US equipment from any NATO invasion. Check out r/tractorsStealingTanks if you want to see what actual humiliation looks like. Embarrassing is a supposed superpower invading your much weaker neighbor and losing more men then the US has in all post WW2 wars combined. Then dusting off T54's and begging North Korea for ammo. Though Russia is quickly closing in on the US WW2 total. Over 13.5k armored vehicles destroyed just to capture 15% of Ukraine, 50% less then the high watermark a year and a half ago. And most of that was captured prior to the 2022 full scale invasion. Since lines have stabilized Russia has lost much more then Ukraine. And that's just losses that have been photographed, the true number is certainly much higher.
2
@bencarter1666 Is this a joke? Refer to Desert Storm if you want to know what a NATO vs Russia conflict would look like.
2
@ichlebeindermoderne6939 They aren't. For starters they aren't winning, its a stalemate at best. And the 30 nations thing is just a Russian talking point to try to avoid the embarrassment of the shambolic incompetence of this invasion. They are fighting Ukraine that's using NATO hand me downs.
2
@domzbu Ukraine received almost no weapons until 2022. If the US invaded Mexico the war would be over in a month regardless of what help Mexico recieved.
2
@seeker0587 These weren't US missiles though, they were likely French SCALP missiles. It was Ukrainian made Neptune missiles that sank the Moskva.
2
@jossgower Russia cant even take the Donbas bud, its time to face reality.
2
@mereassassinates550 Is the Sun in the room with you right now? Its security footage of 2 scalp missiles destroying the ship dumbass. Along with multiple other sources reporting on this, its probably just a grand conspiracy to make the world think Ukraine sunk some corvette. And the Moskva still sails, right? There's also satellite images of the destroyed ship. Its time to rejoin reality.
2
@DIMASIO. R-360 Neptune is a Ukrainian subsonic cruise missile with all-weather capabilities developed by the Luch Design Bureau in Kyiv. In service 2021–present. Why lie about something thats so easy to google? Ukraine hadn't received any anti ship missiles from anyone at that point. You realize this isn't tik tok right? spamming emoji's wont make your idiotic comments become real.
2
@switch12345678 So you don't think Russia should be on the security council? why did Russia inherit all the SSR's treaties? What was the capital of the SSR? The Russian Federation is the successor state to the SSR, that's how they view themselves. The Russian Empire, SSR and Russian Federation are all the same entity with different names. One of us needs to learn history but it isn't me.
2
@switch12345678 Yeah empire's grow and shrink, that proves literally nothing. Find me a single historian that says that Russia has nothing to do with the USSR and I'll be eating crow.
2
@City1Tiger You already said that, repeating the same nonsense over and over won't make it true. It was the Afghan government that lost to the Taliban, the US was long gone by then. Try not to cry.
2
@domzbu Ukraine has retaken over 50% of the territory Russia once occupied, wtf are you talking about. History didn't start two years ago, Russia has spent billions more on its military compared to Ukraine. They've spent the past 20 years stroking themselves off as the worlds #2 army. Russia's military performance has been humiliating no matter how you try to spin it.
2
@City1Tiger The US disrupted Al Qaeda and took down Bin Laden and Al Zawahiri. If you want to say the political objective of nation building failed ok but militarily it was a victory. IMO they should have packed it in after they took out Bin Laden but that's with hindsight. Russia lost so hard in Afghanistan their whole country collapsed. Any more braindead talking points you want to spam?
2
@trevorwhitham6742 What is this even supposed to mean? Ukraine currently has around 1500 tanks, they started the war with around 700.
1
@trevorwhitham6742 Oh I see. While Russia has lost an eye watering amount of tanks unfortunately they still have lots of old models sitting around. Nobody knows how many T54/62's they'll be able to resurrect from the bone yard.
1
@domzbu Over 70k Americans die annually due to fentanyl overdose from product shipped from China through Mexico into the US. Do you think the US would be justified in invading Mexico? I think most people would say no, and that's a far greater threat then anything the US did to Russia.
1
@JaimeSalazar-wm6dh You can believe whatever makes you feel fuzziest inside.
1
@Dennis-ff2pf They are there to make sure Ukraine is using the weapons they gave them and not selling them. They aren't there in a combat role.
1
@mereassassinates550 An yet here you are making comments. It was the Russians who released video and images of their destroyed ship, do you think it was a hoax?
1
@DIMASIO. See the search bar at the top of the screen? Why not just type in 'Putin says he can take Ukraine in two weeks' instead of asking idiotic questions.
1
@DIMASIO. Russia got smoked so hard in Afghanistan their whole country collapsed. Saying fled is saying something forced them to flee, there hadn't been an attack on coalition forces in years, the US just left.
1
@DIMASIO. We have people in Ukraine specifically to make sure they are using the weapons. There has been no evidence of them selling anything. You can believe whatever makes you feel fuzziest inside though.
1
@mereassassinates550 First off I did respond to your first post, can you read? Russia is synonymous with the USSR. We weren't even discussing that, any other out of context comments directed at other people you want to bring up? The US ran away from who? There hadn't been an attack on coalition forces for years, the Taliban were hiding in caves for 20 years until the US left. just repeating the same idiotic comment over and over wont make it true. What was your point supposed to be? That the sun interviewed a time traveler? You sure seem to watch the Sun a lot or someone who hates them. Please point out where I said I liked or trusted the Sun, don't put words in my mouth. I'm just passing by leaving comments, I never thought I'd trigger you so much. Take your meds.
1
@mereassassinates550 Moreover I find its funny that you didn't respond to my point after making an embarrassing statement. Do you think this ship being struck is some grand conspiracy perpetrated by the worlds media companies, open source satellite images and the Russian telegram channel that initially released the footage? Nothing to say?
1
@switch12345678 You understand the Russian Federation wouldn't exist wouthout it right?
1
@mereassassinates550 huh? I replied multiple times, are you brain damaged or something?
1
@mereassassinates550 still waiting on a reply, I'll ask again for the third time because apparently reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. Please explain the global conspiracy involving multiple media outlets, open source satellite images and the Russian telegram that first released the footage to convince us all that some random corvette was attacked.
1
@markiobook8639 This braindead comment has been made and responded to about a dozen times in this thread.
1
@City1Tiger lol yeah and then their whole country collapsed.
1
@Frankly-Junior The Afghan government lost to the Taliban, this was after the US left. The US occupied Afghanistan for 20 years, the Taliban spent all that time hiding in caves, there hadn't been an attack on coalition forces for years..
1
@bryanmurphy7480 The Moskva was sank with Ukrainian Neptune missiles, this corvette was likely 2 French SCALP missiles and most of the rest were Ukrainian marine drones.
