@DaFinkingOrk Unless you are Tibet, Xinjiang, Taiwan, Vietnam or any other country in the South China Sea.

@genem895 3.1 million ethnic Russians live in the US, not 20 million, not sure where you got that made up number from. Millions of Russian's have fled their homeland to try to find a better life in the US, what point do you think you are making?

@ordavis do you really think annexing territory makes a country non interventionist? Tibet and Xinjiang weren't part of China when they were annexed. China has had a conflict with Vietnam for thousands of years, not a 'brief conflict'. It continues into modern day where China tries to claim Vietnam's territorial waters as its own.

@ordavis China has spent a lot more time broken apart than united, pretending they have claims on territory until the end of time is idiotic. It would be like if Italy invaded France and you tried to pretend they weren't being expansionists. Or Russia's invasion of Ukraine if you prefer. What happened was China invaded Tibet, the 'agreement' as you call it occured after China's invasion. They then moved in millions of Han Chinese, effectively making the Tibetan's a minority in their own country. Calling it an 'agreement' is absurd. Previous Taiwanese president Tsai Ing-wen said China must 'face reality' of Taiwan's independence. Lai Ching Te is another nationalist. Taiwan has been de facto independent for almost a century. I'm not sure where you get your information from, this is the problem with revisionist history. China is the only country in the SCS setting up Islands in other countries EEZ's and preventing them access to their own territory. It's time to rejoin reality bud.

"I'm a never Trump guy, I never liked him" "I might have to hold my nose and vote for Hillary Clinton" "My god what an idiot" "I loved Mitt Romney's anti-Trump speech" “Terrible candidate” “Idiot if you voted for him” “Might be America's H*tler” “Might be a cynical a-hole” “Cultural H*roin” “Noxious” “Reprehensible” - JD Vance speaking about Trump.

@josephstalin839 Are you a mind reader? Even if that was the case China has been taking territory in the SCS right up until now.

@ordavis Your metaphor is absurd. The Mexican-American war was started by the Mexican empire. It was also before WW2. You see little fellah prior to WW2 the rules of the world were different, everyone was trying to conquer everyone else. The rules of the world have changed though, the borders are set if you try to annex another country you are a bad boy. Understand? Tibet was a client state of China for a time, though historians debate to what degree. They also spent far more time independent than they have as part of China. Yes, that's how wars work when one side has an overwhelming advantage little buddy, if in 1949 Tibet had a large modern army it wouldn't have been a 'minor skirmish', and would have instead been a major war. You are basically saying that if the power imbalance is great enough than it's ok to annex other countries, which is idiotic. Look up the Sinicization of Tibet, which is described by academics as a form of Han settler colonialism. Do you really think this is top secret or something? Do you need a source saying water is wet? The words of Taiwan's previous and present president disprove your thoughts regarding them. they certainly regard themselves as independent, they've had their own government and military for almost a century. The CCP has never controlled Taiwan.

@ordavis And to answer your last question, yes I would be opposed to the ROC forcibly annexing foreign countries. I also notice you left out China's current actions in the SCS. China is the only country that builds islands in the EEZ of other countries and harasses other countries shipping in their own waters.
