  5.  @MrWolfstar8  The war in Afghanistan lasted a few weeks then there was a long insurgency against a more or less helpless enemy. The US could put up a hot air balloon rigged with hellfires and it would be effective within the framework of the USAF. The Russians are fighting an actual army that's more or less on the same level as them, the Russians couldn't take the Donbass with T-90's do you think T-55's will be more successful? Tanks will always be a sub par artillery platform because the barrels aren't designed for the volume of fire required. Plus the fact that they've been rotting in some Siberian field being stripped for parts.
