In Canada we also use an ancient sidearm in the form of the Browning HI Power, it's not because we inherited old stocks or something though we just suck at military procurement.

@swendsenwiley We started issuing them more frequently because green on blue's were becoming so common also the mag safety is not good and quite unsafe. It's still a beauty but has no place in a modern military context. If you want to issue a ceremonial weapon we have sabers for that.

@ElfRightsActivist Yeah Hi Powers are great but most of the ones we have are literal WW2 relics that may or may not function. They could sell them on the open market and have enough to buy everyone in service a glock with optics.

@zoiders It's great that you are so amazing that you've never had any issues with the HI Power (no doubt because of your high iq), but there have been no shortage of well documented events involving the HP, and the mag safety is pretty much universally regarded as a design flaw. There's also the fact that many of them are the same pistols issued in WW2. If you think the HP is safer/better then modern pistols maybe you do have more issues then you think.
