You know, like morons. So they redeployed the VDV from Kharkiv to Kherson and the Ukrainians attacked Kharkiv and rolled up the Russians like a Burrito (including capturing Izium the main logistics hub, capturing an absolute mountain of material) then they blew the bridges behind the Russans at Kherson and the Russians were no longer able to be supplied and were forced to tuck tail and flee from there also. Just another humiliating defeat in Russian history. How about Russias retreats from Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy do those count?

  5.  Yuri  Most of that was controlled before the Russians invaded, and most of the rest was from the initial shock of the invasion. Ukraine has gained far more then its lost since lines have been established. Russia's performance has been humiliating no matter how you try to spin it. For some reason Russia is gaining T54's and pretending like its not embarrassing.

Those territories were taken either before the war or in the initial shock of the invasion, since the lines have stabilized Russia has lost more then it's gained. The T14 is a glorified parade float, the Russians have managed to build somwhere between 0-1 a year. and its dependent on western tech to build. All other Russian tanks are just upgraded Soviet tanks, which again are dependent on western tech to upgrade. Russia can't even make ball bearings anymore. The M55 has been upgraded for its entire service life with a new gun, engine and tech. the T54's from Russia have been sitting in a field in Tunguska for the past 50 years and are either stock from the factory or maybe a 1st gen imager if lucky. Moreover Ukraine hasn't spent the past 20 years boasting about being the worlds #2 army, they are fighting off their large belligerent neighbor they'll take whatever they can get. Russia dusting off T54's and using Scooby Doo vans for logistics is humiliating no matter how you try to spin it. And as far as old western tanks vs soviet stuff you can refer to Desert Storm to see how badly old soviet gear was thrashed.

  19.  @andrewcrus  So what your saying is Russia was to moronic to realize you need a 3-1 advantage at least if you want to attack someone. The main goal of Russia was to topple the Ukrainian government and annex it. If they didn't want Kyiv, Chernihiv or Kherson why send their troops to idiotically attack these areas? Russia just wanted to see a montage of tractors hauling off their gear? And if Russias goal really was to take the LPR and DPR then they have FAILED because they STILL cant take them. This war has been a bigger disaster then Rings of Power, and a complete humiliation for Russia.

  21.  @andrewcrus  To put this in perspective imagine if in Iraq the US retreated from 90% of the country to 'focus on one area' then they started digging trenches and resurrected the M26 Pershing from the scrap yard and after 14 months STLL couldnt' take the area they decided to focus on all while trying to pretend that everything was going according to plan. And Iraq was a country on the opposite side of the planet with the worlds 4th most powerful army, whereas Ukraine is the 15th most powerful and a few hours by car from Moscow.

  28.  Yuri  Old Soviet junk got absolutely dumpstered by western gear in Iraq. In Afghanistan the mission was to get Bin Laden and dismantle Al Qaeda. Which they did, and don't worry unlike Russia The US is rich and can afford it. Remember when the USSR went there and took 15000 KIA in 10 years and collapsed their whole damn empire? Also US took 2,402 KIA in 20 years, that's a bad 2 days for Russia in this war.
