@Азат-д3з 2014 is when Russia began its invasion, there would be no casualties in the Donbas if they hadn't. Russia was supposed to withdraw its support for the rebels, remove its forces from the Donbas and return control over to Ukraine under the supervision of the OSCE. Russia did none of these, they violated Minsk on day one.

@trumpforever6706 Officially? Russia wasn't 'officially' in Crimea either until Putin admitted years later the 'little green men' were Russians. There were years of denials before that. Strelkov and Prigozhin have admitted that Russia was in the Donbas right from the start. Girkins unit were mostly Russian Armed Forces 'volunteers'. Girkin admitted that this action sparked the Donbas War. He said "I'm the one who pulled the trigger of war. If our unit hadn't crossed the border, everything would have fizzled out, like in Kharkiv, like in Odessa"

They were a branch of the Russian military as Putin admitted. “I want to point out and I want everyone to know about it: The maintenance of the entire Wagner Group was fully provided for by the state. From the Ministry of Defense, from the state budget, we fully financed this group.” Prigozhin admitted they were in the Donbas since 2014. "Russians went to Donbass, and we held our ground in Donbass. After we defended Donbass, we were supposed to move out in the autumn of ’14 and secure the lines of Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, and so forth along the border of the Luhansk People’s Republic and Donetsk People’s Republic"

@valkiyri There were peace talks nobody denies that, there was never any peace agreement. Russia retreated from Kyiv because it became clear they had no hope of taking it. Here's what Arakhamia, who's the Ukrainian official you are refering to actually said. “First of all, in order to agree to this point, you have to change the constitution. Our aspiration towards NATO is written in the constitution. Also, there is no trust in the Russians that they will do this. This would only be possible if there were security guarantees. We couldn’t sign something, go away, everybody there would breathe a sigh of relief, and then they would come more prepared, because in fact, when they invaded, they were unprepared for such resistance. We could only work on this when we were 100% sure that this [intrusion] would never happen again. However, there is no such belief." Arakhamia also denied the fact that the Ukrainian delegation was ready to sign the document and Boris Johnson stopped them. According to his own words, the Western partners were informed about the negotiations and had seen the draft versions of the agreement, but they did not make decisions on behalf of Ukraine.

@valkiyri The phantom peace treaty wasn't even the initial spin, it wasn't until over a year later that Putin brought up the supposed peace treaty as an excuse during a press conference. The run on Kyiv was called a 'feint' at first, an equally absurd claim. Get more informed before making a comment, lol ...

@I_Fight_Instacart There weren't the political implications of nuclear weapons back then. The US was the only country with them MAD didn't exist and the environmental fallout was still unknown. The two situations aren't comparable.

@ЕвгенийАвтушко-ч1п Well that's completely irrelevent to my point but. Moldova, Chechnya, Georgia, Ukrainian Crimea and the Donbas, full scale invasion of Ukraine. Russia and Putin have been invading countries since forever. Why do you think all the countries Russia occupied for decades couldn't wait to join NATO? At one point Russia wanted to join NATO but in Putin's words he 'didn't want to be on a list with bunch of countries that don't matter.'
