The fool in charge of the humiliating Vulhedar offensive where Russia drove into the same minefield over and over got a medal and a promotion.

@glintongordon6811 Bakhmut is a medium sized town a few hours by car from Moscow. Ten months and tens of thousands of casualties is nothing short of humiliation for Russia.
14
@glintongordon6811 Russia also retreated from Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kherson and Kharkiv
11
@glintongordon6811 Millions wow, considering the Ukrainian army was only 700k before the war including the TDF that's quite amazing. And what is your point exactly? That Russia is to braindead to realize you need at least a 3-1 advantage in personnel if you want to actually conquer a country? Let me guess you still think Moskva sank in high seas and the retreat from Kyiv was a gesture of goodwill.
11
@joeygarcia6783 It's completely normal. Putin said attack and he attacked regardless of how hopeless it was. The only thing that they want is loyalty, things like competence are inconsequential.

@glintongordon6811 They weren't all in the same place though, you understand that right? In the early days of the war most of the Ukrainian army was still in the Donbas and Russia outnumbered Ukraine around Kyiv and got pushed back. Then Ukraine announced that they would attack Kherson next and Russia believed them for some reason. You know, like morons. So Russia redeployed the VDV from Kharkiv to Kherson and the Ukrainians attacked Kharkiv and folded the Russians up like laundry. (including capturing Izium the main logistics hub in the area with a mountain of equipment.) Then they blew the bridges behind the Russians at Kherson so they couldn't be supplied and they had to run from there too. Its not like Ukraine was sending million man human wave attacks.

@yakivpopavich There is a montage out there of Russian officials and Russian state media saying 3 days. Typically when you invade a country you don't want to get engaged in trench warfare that never ends a few miles across the border. Or do you think that was part of the plan?
9
@glintongordon6811 No the Russian MOD said the retreat from Kyiv was a gesture of goodwill (the retreat from snake island also wasn't' a gesture of goodwill btw). Also the Russians and the Ukrainians are using mostly the same equipment they are near peers. (Though Much larger Russia still can't take the Donbas for some reason, mostly due to Russian ineptitude and Ukrainian fortitude) The Russian MOD STILL doesn't admit the Moskva was hit by 2 Neptune missiles (it was) they say there was an accident and high seas sunk it. Part of the reason btw is because all the fire extinguishers were locked up because Russian sailors kept stealing them.

@yakivpopavich You're a big boy I'm sure you can figure out how to use the internet.
6
@glintongordon6811 let me know when Russia takes the Donbas. I wont hold my breath.

@glintongordon6811 So whats your point? Russia is to dumb to try to actualy win the war? Not buying it, maybe a year ago people would believe this garbage but 15 months in and Russia cant even take the Donbas, its right across the Border. If Russia was doing well you wouldn't need to convince everyone that they are, it would be self evident. Usually when you invande a country you dont want to get tied down in trench warfare that never ends. Imagine if the US invaded Mexico and 40 miles into the country they got bogged down and started digging trenches, resurrected the M26 Pershing and said. "We're not really trying, were ony using some convicts, in WW2 we took loads of casualties, things are going according to plan.' Would be somewhat difficult to take them serious right? This war has been a disastrous humiliation for Russia no matter how you try to spin it.

@Ksins1 yeah the dollar was at 85% of global trade before the war and has plummeted all the way to 89% of global trade. de-dollarization is a fantasy.
2
@glintongordon6811 This isn't the 40's anymore. Russia can't afford tens of thousands of casualties for every town it takes. A better comparison would be something more modern. How about the 2nd battle of Fallujah, the high point of combat in the Iraq war. The US suffered a staggering 95 KIA, Russia takes more then that every day before breakfast in Bakhmut. The heaviest of fighting was over in 9 days. Fallujah had a population of 300k.
2
@Ksins1 Are you confusing total economic activity with total percentage of trade volume? I think you are. Nobody wants Yuan or Rubbles, Pesos or Rupees. USD s for now and the foreseeable future the only currency that carries any weight. The only real contender is the Euro.
2
@TheDrAstrov Most of the territory Russia has taken was taken before the full scale invasion in 2022 and during the initial shock of the invasion. Since lines have been established Russia has lost far more territory then it has taken.

@glintongordon6811 The Ukrainians announced that they would attack Kherson, and for some reason Russia believed them. You know, like idiots. So Russia redeployed the VDV from Kharkiv to Kherson and the Ukrainians attacked Kharkiv and rolled the Russians up like a burrito. (including Izum the main logistics hub in the area and by some accounts captured more equipment then they started the war with) Then they blew the bridges behind the Russians at Kherson so they couldn't be supplied and they were forced to tuck tail and run away. Just another humiliating defeat in Russian military history.
2
@seemev2.0phuckbootube78 According to Russia they've destroyed it 8 times over. Yet are stll incapable of taking the Donbas for some reason.
2
@Ksins1 Where are you getting your fantasy numbers?
1
@Ksins1 You're funny, I wont hold my breath. This is because other countries GDP's are growing, as China and India and everywhere else continue to grow their currencies will take a larger share of global GDP. As far as trade goes everyone wants USD not dictator funny money.
1
@Ksins1 The Yuan makes up less then 3% of global transactions. The Australian dollar makes up a higher percentage.
