@sampreece That's a little petty. I'm sure you don't believe in other religions but you're entitlted to be critical of them.
10
I'm not convinced this was a spiritual experience but a desperate and clinging response to trauma.
7
@alisterrebelo9013 If you'll pardon me, I'll define common sense to you. It's the evolved knowledge of experience passed on and accepted as true by humanity as a whole. And if you'll pardon me again, why do you struggle to show any evidence that your god created the universe beyond you read it in a book with a talking donkey in it?
4
@alisterrebelo9013 ok, well let's do it your way. Do you believe in a god, yes or no. Just a yes or no please, not a long and desperate attempt to sound more intelligent than you actually are. Thanking you kindly.
4
@alisterrebelo9013 "Using your definition as quoted, humanity has, as a whole, for the history of humanity considered the existence of God as common sense." Nonsense, of course it hasn't. "My turn, what scientific evidence can bring forth to conclusively prove the existence of a universal logic that you are currently appealing to, as well as is assumed to be true when conducting scientific experiments?" Nonsense again. I didn't appeal to a universal logic anywhere. Again you tangled yourself up in the web of your desperate attempt to sound more intelligent than you actually are. Stop doing it, man - say what you mean and mean what you say.
4
@stevemarkcadavona You're "proving" every god with that, not just yours.
4
@stevemarkcadavona No, I don't believe and I'm an atheist.
4
@stevemarkcadavona It's even sadder for you, I'm a former Christian and when I researched the Bible, I learned it was full of errors and an all-powerful god wouldn't make errors.
4
@stevemarkcadavona If the whole of humanity were descended from Adam and Eve, mutation levels would have to be far higher to reach today's level of genetic diversity of mankind. The Bible gets the age of the Earth spectacularly wrong and that explains why the authors of the book made mutation claims that could not possibly be true.
4
@stevemarkcadavona There are also plenty of things in the Bible which are clearly contradictory, e.g. “… I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” — Genesis 32:30 “No man hath seen God at any time…”– John 1:18
4
@stevemarkcadavona But nobody said it DID prove god does not exist. And if you want lame arguments, ask a Christian why their almighty god didn't stop people putting errors in his holiest book.
4
@stevemarkcadavona Make sure you answer my 2nd question directly, just YES or NO!
4
Unfortunately, it never does. I'm off to watch some classic Hitchslaps.
4
@retroimmunity Any religion's original claims of the past can't somehow be negated in 2024. If a god exists, then by definition he or she cannot change their minds about anything. And certainly their teachings cannot evolve. That would be a confession that they got something wrong and therefore cannot be god.
4
Actually, Professor Dawkins has, many times, condemned Israel and spoken up on behalf of the Palestinian people. He has equally condemned Palesinian attacks on Israel and openly said both sides have blood on their hands. (And please stop personally insulting the man - he is not a "moron" by anyone's standards)..
3
@zacksmith5963 Many times he has. Like many others on both sides of the conflict, you only register the atrocities committed by one side and ignore the other because you want to be "right" more than you want the truth and peace. And so the atrocities continue. Your thinking isn't the solution, it's the problem.
3
@stevemarkcadavona Forget what my "rationale" may be, do you believe in a god, yes or no? If yes, then what evidence do you have for his existence beyond you read it in a book?
3
@stevemarkcadavona Yes or no. Do you believe in a god, if so which one? Just answer directly? Thanks.
3
@stevemarkcadavona ok let's ask each other direct questions with the following rule. Direct answers only, no waffle from either side. You can go first, ask me anything you like.
3
@stevemarkcadavona Let me help you instead, my friend. Donkeys, snakes and bushes don't really talk as the Bible claims. And I'm afraid the Bible does make statements which age the Earth as a few thousand years old, maximum. When I was a Christian, I made excuses for such errors. We now know, of course that the age of the Earth is in the billions of years old. That's why I moved on from believing in talking snakes, and you probably should, too.
3
@stevemarkcadavona What does Deuteronomy 13:13-19 tell readers to do to people who worship a different god? Give a direct answer, don't run away by saying "I already answered" answer me directly please. What does Deuteronomy 13:13-19 tell readers to do to people who worship a different god?
3
It's conceited for humans to believe our views of life are the pinnacle of understanding. We may simply not have the capability to understand it completely. A seagull will see a nuclear power station and happily build a nest there. But it will never have the capacity to appreciate what's going on around it.
3
@thesonsoflightt You seem more angry with atheism than confident in your own beliefs, with respect. And seeing as you're not an atheist, it's a good idea to stop projecting what atheists think.
3
@thesonsoflightt 1) I didn't "defend the Quran" anywhere. I clearly stated I am an atheist. I simply stopped you telling lies about it. 2) Shame on you for saying that. Shame on you, that was a repugnant thing to say. Shame on you. I'm done with you, enjoy YouTube
3
@thesonsoflightt Stop projecting what other people believe, it's beneath you. I loathe Islam and the Quran. There. Next time ASK someone their opinion, don't tell them what it is.
3
@zacksmith5963 Yes. He has.
2
@stevemarkcadavona I asked you first.
2
@stevemarkcadavona Believers in all 3,000 gods do the same as you're doing here. "But my god loves you so much" - it's just religio-babble. Watch how easy and unconvincing it is. "You see, Allah gave us all free will whether to choose him or not. Allah loves you, he will not force you to accept his love but it will reach you, open your heart, accept his love and lo, ye shall be freed." It's just religio-babble with no evidence attached to prove it to be true.
2
@stevemarkcadavona And still, the total evidence you have shown for your god is "you read it in a book."
2
@stevemarkcadavona LOL I even asked you NOT to say "I already answered" and still you did it. Deuteronomy 13:13-19 tells you to carry out that act with a sword, would you do that, yes or no?
2
With respect to the OP, I'm afraid you are simply typing emotionally rather than factually. The evidence you provided for your god's existence was a big, fat, unhealthy zero. Nothing whatsoever beyond your emotional outpouring.
2
@thesonsoflightt You're no Christian. You never were. You're just looking for someone to hate and using Christianity to do it.

You answer your own question. He's searching for the truth, I don't get why you're confused.
1
@gittin_funky The truth in each new step of discovering answers to life.
1
@dhaiaxarpremka "Atheism creates vacuum". Atheism doesn't "create" amything, it's simply the rejection of claims that do not include the necessary evidence to prove such claims are the truth.
1
You might want to read Deuteronomy 13:13-19 before you go any further with that.
1
@zacksmith5963 Yes, really, e.g. "It is reasonable to deplore both the original foundation of the Jewish State of Israel & aspirations now to destroy it. Can you explain why Palestinian Arabs should be the ones to pay for Hitler's crimes? You surely aren't going to stoop to some kind of biblical justification for picking on Palestine." "It is reasonable to deplore both the original foundation of the Jewish State of Israel & aspirations now to destroy it. Can you explain why Palestinian Arabs should be the ones to pay for Hitler's crimes? You surely aren't going to stoop to some kind of biblical justification for picking on Palestine." *(Professor Richard Dawkins, July 20th, 2014) "The extent of the destruction in Gaza is obscene. Poor people. Poor (Palestinian) people who have lost their homes, their relatives, everything." (Professor Richard Dawkins expressing anger over Israeli actions, 2014, Gaza)
1
@stevemarkcadavona I think your religion is hogwash. Einstein agreed with me. He called Christianity "primitive legend."
1
@stevemarkcadavona I'll stick with Einstein's view that the Bible is just primitive legend. I hope your religion brings you everything you need.
1
@stevemarkcadavona I hope your religion brings you everything you need, good luck with it.
1
@stevemarkcadavona Show me what you've got.
1
@stevemarkcadavona ok. You said your god loves me. Show me where, when and how he told you that. That's the evidence I want to see.
1
@stevemarkcadavona So the only evidence you have is you read it in a book. Which is exactly what I said.
1
@stevemarkcadavona The Bible instructs you to kill entire towns full of people if just one person in that town worships a different god. Yes or no, would you carry out that instruction? Yes or no.
1
@stevemarkcadavona Morality? Your religion orders you to murder people who work on a Sunday. That's not "morality", that's pure evil.
1
@stevemarkcadavona Go read Deuteronomy 13:13-19 and tell me again about "morality".
1
@stevemarkcadavona lol I already told you once. You said your god loves me. Show me where, when and how he told you that. Your just afraid of admitting you have no evidence whatsoever, none.
1
@stevemarkcadavona You will now type something like "but what evidence do you want, there is no cause for you complaining that there is no evidence because you cannot define what evidence is but my god has the evidence, you don't understand that" lol. Show me ANYTHING beyond you read it in a book!!
1
@stevemarkcadavona ok let's directly answer questions. 1) Where does morality come from? I don't know. 2) Am I going to ignore your questions? I answered them, right here, right now ultra-directly. Now it's your turn.
1
@stevemarkcadavona 1) Apart from you read it in a book, what evidence can you show that dismisses all other gods and proves your god created the universe? 2) Do you believe that Deuteronomy 13:13-19 is a good example of morality, yes or no. Direct answers ONLY, no more religio-babble.
1
@stevemarkcadavona Well, I suggest you go read Deuteronomy 13:13-19 again and remember, you called that "a good example of morality"
1
@stevemarkcadavona And just say Yes or No!!
1
@stevemarkcadavona So you admit your religion is wrong. Hallelujah.
1
@stevemarkcadavona The Bible is full of such things. Go read Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NAB - it tells women that they must marry a man that has done such a thing to her. And you think that's "moral" ?
1
@stevemarkcadavona Why is it wrong that an innocent woman must marry a man that has attacked her? Why do you THINK it's wrong!
1
@stevemarkcadavona What nonsense. Of course there's such a thing as right and wrong without religion. My understanding of right and wrong comes from my parents, from the laws of my country. Yours comes from a book that tells you your daughter must marry a man that attacks her.
1
@stevemarkcadavona So you're saying it's wrong but your Bible tells you its right. It demands you do such things.
1
@welcomemavoungou8600 lol good luck getting a straight answer.
1
If you're going to criticise what atheism is, at least do some research on what atheism means first. It certainly does NOT mean "knowing there is no god." as you bizarrely claimed.
1
@briansmith3791 Then present the evidence you have for that creator. You're doing a great job of claiming that creator exists and presenting no evidence to prove your belief is true.
1
Given the options of Aayan's experience being a factual and convincing proof of a religion or a desperate psychological response to trauma, I think most people would opt for the latter.
1
That's a heartwarming tale but you know you are typing emotionally rather than factually. As with all claims like this, and I've made them myself, they're just emotional responses to trauma, not conclusive evidence of your claims regarding god.
1
@thesonsoflightt Stop that silly myth about the Q'uran. I am no fan of any religion but it's a silly myth, of course she wasn't really six. A "year" was a longer period of time when the book was written. Experts believe her real age was around 13 and the Bible has quite similar things in it.
1
@thesonsoflightt Your religion is equally guilty of such dreadful things.
1
@thesonsoflightt You are disgusting, she clearly wasn't doing any of the vile things you said. You really are disgusting.
1
@thesonsoflightt I will answer everything you'uve asked but you were asked first and you bypassed it. Here it is again, what is your answer The Bible tells its readers they must slay entire towns full of innocent people if just one person in that town worships a different god. Are you going to carry out that instruction tomorrow or are you going to disobey your own god's instruction?
1
@thesonsoflightt He lied, he killed fish, he didn't speak up when he knew liars were making untrue, claims, he stole stories from Mesopotamian poetry and pretended they were words from god.
1
That's an extraordinary claim. But you need to present evidence that God is using this woman, not just claim it, otherwise the claim is as easily dismissed as it was to type.
1
That's where your comment belongs and I'm sure you're worthy of a much more intelligent and thoughtful comment than that.
