Comments by "Tony England" (@TonyEnglandUK) on "Richard Dawkins on scientific truth, outgrowing God and life beyond Earth" video.
@s2im The truth is what matters. If the truth is Christianity, or Islam, or Buddhism or any religion, or no religion at all - the truth is where the focus should always be. And as Professor Dawkins points out, you cannot have truth if you don't have evidence.

@Jack-fs2im Show everyone proof that your god exists and created everything. And make sure that proof eliminates your god's 2,999 rival gods.

@OpiumBride Vivian, ask yourself a question here. "With three thousand gods to choose from, what made you reject 2,999 of them and put your life's beliefs into the god that was most-popular in your nation?"

In his defence, it's the interviewer's job to ask the kind of questions viewers who oppose Professor Dawkins' beliefs would like to hear asked. It would be a poor interviewer who just asked safe questions.
7
@rodmartin-nl8ns That's quite a bold claim, in what way are you claiming Professor Dawkins does that?
4
You have to remember that the interviewer has to take the position of asking questions the public would ask. His own personal thoughts have to be left out of the interview.

@rodmartin-nl8ns I can't be wrong in saying that. Because I never said it. You invented me saying it then told me I was wrong.
3
@rodmartin-nl8ns You said NO sorry you are wrong saying that If you beleive in a higher what ever you are no different than Religion THAT is what I didn't say, anywhere. You twisted my words into that. I think your religion is nonsense, silly nonsense. Welcome to the world of differing opinions and beliefs. Get used to it, it's not going to change.
3
@rodmartin-nl8ns There's a whole universe of difference between accepting that Jesus existed and believing that a donkey once talked to its owner as the Bible claims.
2
@rodmartin-nl8ns Exactly. I didn't say it anywhere. I'm done here. You are determined to be a victim. Farewell.
2
@anner6230 Do you see me saying that anywhere? I don't, either. I'd prefer it if you made your point to me as opposed to asking a leading question.
1
@OpiumBride Now that is something I totally agree with. I've had similar experiences in my life that made me realise there ARE higher powers than us at work. I don't see it as "god", I see it more as "nature at work" but those are just different labels. I'm glad I read your post because, like you, there's no way I could replicate my experiences (mine were through doing something wrong in life and feeling a wrath from life itself for crossing a line I shouldn't have crossed.) And I label myself as an atheist, so I have no motive for making these statements other than to endorse your post and the type of experiences you must have had.

@rodmartin-nl8ns I don't believe in Christianity, or Islam, or Hinduism or any organised religion. Every civilisation around the world created a god as they grew until we now have three thousand of them. But that doesn't mean I don't believe in higher forces than humanity. I've had experiences in my life that made me realise that higher forces exist, as I'm sure you have. But I dismiss all religions equally as to being behind those foces.
1
@rodmartin-nl8ns Oh I can understand it ok. Religion has made you, presumably an adult, defend a talking donkey. As Einstein said, the Bible is really just "primitive legend."
1
@rodmartin-nl8ns I don't give a running damn what happened to you. Keep your ludicrously patronising self-pity to yourself.
1
@rodmartin-nl8ns You believe in your religion, I don't. I'll stick with Einstein's view that the Bible is just "primitive legend" Enjoy YouTube.
1
@rodmartin-nl8ns ok which religion do you suggest? I'm afraid I don't believe in talking donkeys as the Bible claims, what else is on offer?
