What most people don’t understand The top 1 % in GB pay over 30% of the federal income tax. 50% of VAT tax and they also pay tax on capital gains So if you look at total government revenues collected from individuals each year the top 1% Brings in 40% of the revenue. It does not take very many very high earners leaving the country for it to significantly lower government revenue
