  1. Americans for the most part live significantly above their means, I don’t feel sorry for them at all when they end up broke. It doesn’t matter if they make 35 k a year or a million a year, they live paycheck to paycheck. One of my best friends from high school made 1-2 million a year for at least 20 years, and when the financial crisis hit, he lost his job with Solon brothers, was bankrupt in a year.
