  3. do not confuse USSR city planning with Romanian. same name, vastly different results. in USSR all the initially claimed ideas ended up spoiled, ditched in the process of implementation, or othewise forgotten.

  4. this pedestrian access never worked. it never ever began to work in any meaningful sense. except, maybe, SOME kindergartens in SOME places, in freshly built cities. long story short, the lack of goods in USSR made you travel half the country to buy for example a coat or a jacket. my parents traveled 3000 km to buy baby-clothes -- so much for a pedestrian access.
