There is a large dose of "argument to authority" here. On many issues I will concede to your authority, but not in matters involving pathology, law or many other specialisms - I will not.

If i were Sam, I'd never mention Trump again. The TDS is embarrassing.

Guru to 100% lunatic

@wasneeplus I feel that a modicum of respect is prerequisite in these matters. Yes, I understand the logical fallacies. I agree that manipulation is rife, but regarding this election, we will see. It will go to the courts. That isn't my issue with this podcast. My issue is that Sam continuous look at the present situation through one eye, and presents this as a priori truth. It isn't. It's an opinion piece.
2
@wasneeplus About half an hour's worth.
1
@wasneeplus Yes, the whole thing
1
@wasneeplus Seriously? There is no criticism of lockdown policy, Hunters laptop, the obvious corruption in the democratic party. I'm no fan of Trump, but it cuts both ways. To negate that fact is an argument to authority. He is basically saying Trump is a liar and a charlatan, which may be true, but based against a backdrop of cherubic altruism?
1
@wasneeplus Not saying Trump isn't, but in this podcast he is clearly pointing the finger at Trump for the inflation of tensions. I think it would be hard to argue that BLM and Antifa haven't played a role in that. Regarding pathology, I don't recognise Sam's authority in that matter. Regarding voter fraud, I don't recognise Sam's authority in that matter. Regarding the motivations of Trump, u don't recognise his authority. The obvious censorship and manipulation of tech and the MSM - bypassed. Everyone is welcome to their opinion, be it comes across strongly as " just take my word for it".

Hence the argument to authority
1
Would you like me to break down every time Sam uses the argument to authority. There are a lot!
1
@wasneeplus I've given you a few. Sam is not a pathologist.
1
Sorry, and no disrespect intented, but real life has got in the way right now. I will give you specific examples later. I respect your perspective that I cannot mention a single example of an argument to authority, but without having time right now to relisten, I'm can't back anything up. I will, because, as I listened Sam continuously have opinion as evidence. I will report back.
1
@wasneeplus I cant and certainly won't try to engage you on this platform. A few questions. Who controls the global money supply? Why are we in lockdown (my country) when medical science says that very few are dying? Why has the right to disagree become an offense (in my country? When will our rights be re-established? Sam glosses over all of this, to my great disappointment. he is not the head of the spear, he's the butt-plug in the behind. I have lost all respect.
1
Trump, and his enablers are making things much more dangerous. 20 seconds in and already an appeal to authority. Agreed?
1
It's obvious that Biden won? Evidence from authority.
1
@wasneeplus Like I said, 30 minutes of this shit. I have better things to do.
1
No authority controls the global money supply? Let's just leave it there. I've already said that I understand the logical fallacies, even though you continue to denigrate that. An argument from authority and an appeal to authority is the same thing. I don't mind how many times you suggest I don't understand that. Sam in the first bloody minute suggests opinion as evidence over and over and over. From which authority is this derived? His.
1
@wasneeplus And incidentally, the logical fallacies are not exactly the pinnacle of intellectual thought. I stick with my first assertion, which offended you so much - Sam is giving unevidenced opinion as fact, which ( call it what you want) is poor for an academic. Back up your assertions with evidence or, guess what? You are making you're argument based on your supposed authority. I doesn't matter if it is yours or someone else's! Regarding everything, I will keep my council, and will use my grey matter for more important tasks than quibbling about semantics.
1
@wasneeplus Ad hominin - there you go
1
@wasneeplus Ad hominem - attack the person not the argument. Enough.
1
Sam doesn't say that it's his opinion, the podcast is littered with statements that simply state - it is so. He has a large influence, and is an authority on many subjects - that's why I follow him. Your "it's just his opinion" argument falls down there. Don't be a fan boy. All the best to you, and good day.
1
@wasneeplus Your only argument if that I don't know what I talking about. So...
1
@wasneeplus What is this, last word syndrome? You have semantically tried to say that I don't understand, then given a definition that exactly matches what I said. Look, I'm sorry that my original post offended you, but I stick with it. Nothing else to say really is there?
1
@junimeme5626 Guru to Trump deranged lunatic. I shan't be waking up with Sam Harris again.
1
Orban stands up to the NWO. Trump is their preferred candidate. Why do you think they left Biden to run?
1
@TOMinPDX I certainly cannot accept any life lessons from a man with that level of instability. If that thought lives rent free in your head, kick it out!
1
@tricky2014 Well that was content free. You know there was a time when people understood rational discourse, and actually tried to make points before declaring themselves the victor. What the f is a non net negative, and more importantly, could you put my language down before you break it please?
