  1. The one that Really bugs me is when the result Doesn't work and is clearly nonsensicle... but they'll still insist it's correct even when you lay out all the particulars and explain it properly.

I'd argue that while eggcorns may show intelligence, they absolutely Do show ignorance (if of a very minor and understandable sort), because if one were Not ignorant... one wouldn't need to be creative in coming up with a possible solution because you'd already know what the correct form was! Intelligence and ignorance aren't actually contrasting traits.
