  2. USB C is, in fact, simply the shape and arrangement of the plug. The rest of that stuff is USB 1,2,3,4 etc. (except, of course, the organization in charge of these things keeps changing the naming scheme to be ever more nonsensical and the latest standards is basically a list of 'all the ways the cables and devices should, but will not, be universal or standardized')
