@seanwebb605 worth noting: for all that a lot of people (Americans in particular, these days) like to make a fuss about such usages, and one could argue that that was Profaning the Lord's name, perhaps, 'do not take the Lord's name in vain' actually has nothing to do with that. In this context (in most contexts, actually), 'vain' means 'falsely' or 'meaninglessly', and 'take' being along the lines of 'claim'... basically, having claimed to be a follower of God (Jew or Christian), don't then behave in such a way that no one can tell the difference.
