  1.  @ghostxx2270  check out coin clipping, debasement, and the constant problems England/Britain had whenever they tried to issue gold coins for some of the (many!) Reasons pretty much everyone moved away from using precious metals as currency. Also why deflation is a problem, then realise that a fixed supply of coinage plus a growing population is identical in effect to a shrinking supply of coinage with a fixed population.
