  1. Discman equivalents were (barring a possible few exceptions I never heard of or encountered) terrible at the thing they were advertised to do: replace the walkman. CD players just really don't like the amount of bouncing that happens when you're walking around, nevermind jogging or running, and skipped Constantly, rather ruining the playback experience. MP3 players had no such issue. Portable CD players were great at taking up a heck of a lot less shelf space than a full stereo system though, and substantially less of a pain in the butt to move from place to place when you wanted to.
