  1.  @bholdr----0  A torpedo boat destroyer was indeed originally intended to destroy torpedo boats. As they got larger over time it became possible to equip them with torpedoes as well as guns so they essentially became dual purpose, the torpedo boat destroyer could also act as a torpedo boat, resulting over time in the name being shortened to destroyer.

  2. I think you're conflicting the pronunciations of Worcester, "Wuster" the town, with Worcestershire, "Wustershire", the county in which it sits.
