  2. 66.2% of Americans are living pay check to pay check. They cannot get $500 together for a medical emergency. They work 2-3 jobs and can't pay rent and buy food for their children. Then they have to "volunteer" for food stamps. They are working 6-7 days a week. They are extremely time poor. Reading news is a privilege. 60% of Americans are reading and writing at a 6th Grade level. 1 in 3 of these are reading and writing at an 8 year old level. This means that they haven't progressed from concrete to abstract thinking. They do not understand corporate media's sanewashing. They do not have critical thinking skills. Both Republicans and Democrats conspired to use Poverty as a Policy Choice for the last 40 years. A living wage would have prevented the rise of Trumpism. Unable to afford a living wage, you are unable to afford to have a democracy.
