  20. I struggled a lot with this as well. How could so many Americans like Trump. As a teacher I have seen hungry children in the classroom so I did have that insight, the more I looked into it I found. Republicans & Democrats conpired together to use "Poverty as a Policy Choice," when you work 2-3 jobs, and can't pay rent and buy food for your children, and have to "volunteer" to qualify for food stamps, you are not living in a republic or a democracy. If you are watching friends and family die from simply treated health complaints due to no health cover, you don't feel like you have a lot of freedom. 60% of Americans can't get $500 together for an emergency. They are living paycheck to paycheck. There are two of the top people who have more money that the bottom 60%. When you are working 2-3 jobs you don't have a lot of time to read and sift through the news to work out what is going on. 60% of Americans are reading and writing at a 6th Grade level, they have not progressed from concrete to abstract thinking. They don't have critical thinking skills. They get their news from headlines which are often misleading and clickbait. I realised that as I have enough to eat and I have stable housing, then I had no understanding of the stress that 60% of Americans are living under. Which let me to thinking sometimes you might just get angry enough to vote to burn the whole place down, desparate for someone to be punished even if it is your self. Trump has rat cunning, he is able to exploit the amygdala's of these vulnerable Americans. He hijacks them into fight, flight, freeze and fawn, where biologically your brain has shut down and your pre frontal cortext has shut down. Your biology literally stops you from rational thihnking. Trump's rallies provide a sense of belonging and the way the MSM clips his speeches is very different from the way his crowds experience his comments. It is really confusing. I agree. But I do understand now why so many voted for him. Trump is their retribution, even if he is their biggest enemy in so many ways.

  78. To my way of thinking it is Intergenerational Trauma, poverty, illiteracy and a complete lack of time to engage with the media which makes folks very vulnerable to cults and manipulation. There's some statistics that are worth knowing. 66.2 %of Americans are living pay check to pay check. They work 2-3 jobs and can't pay rent and buy food for their children. Then they have to "volunteer" for food stamps. They are time poor and often do not engage with media. 60% of Americans are reading and writing at a 6th Grade level. 1 in 3 of these are reading and writing at an 8 year old level. This means that they haven't progressed from concrete to abstract thinking. This means that they haven't got critical thinking skills. They do not know about billionaire media owners and their agendas. How they want their Trump tax cuts. Both Republicans and Democrats conspired to use neoliberalism's "Poverty as a Policy Choice". Neoliberalism shifts a citizen of a country who has rights and responsibilities, a sense of belonging and purpose to being a consumer in a market place who is to blame if they do not purchase the right life despite not having a trust fund. The shaming and humiliating of the poor is a feature of neoliberalism. Folks who are vulnerable become desperate to scapegoat others which feels like a huge relief that they are not the at the brunt of the scapegoating. Intergenerational Trauma, poverty and illiteracy makes folks vulnerable to cults and manipulation. Trump and FOX news use amygdala hijacks, that is they play on fear responses or fight, flight, freeze or fawn responses. If you are in fight, flight, freeze or fawn responses your rational mind or prefrontal cortex has shut down. Biologically your capacity to think has been shut down. There's no capacity to rationally think things through. Without access to adequate food, housing, stable employment and education folks don't have the capacity to process and engage in moral thinking.
