  14. Half of Americans can't get $500 together for an emergency. This is "Poverty as a Policy Choice" that both Democrats & Republicans conspired together to use & this is the deep state that many living in poverty rightly wanted to destroy. This means they are working 2-3 jobs and are still unable to pay rent and buy food for their children. They have to "work" for food stamps. Intergenerational poverty causes trauma, a lack of nutrition means in utero a child's brain doesn't develop properly. 60% of Americans are reading and writing at a 6th Grade level. 1 in 3 of them are reading and writing at an 8 year old level. This means that they haven't progressed from concrete thinking to critical thinking. That they don't know who Murdoch is, what he owns and how he manipulates the American public. Neoliberalism which shifts folks from being citizens in a country with rights and responsibilities to consumers in a market place who have to purchase the right life, even if they don't have a trust fund. Neoliberalism brings about profound social disconnection and loneliness. The place where neoliberalism began, England, is the loneliest places on the planet. Rather than making fun of these people, who know that they are being ripped off and taken for a ride, though they might not be able to articulate their distress in a way that engenders your compassion, maybe think about ways you could be part of the solution rather than making fun of people living terribly sad and tough lives. They are desparate for someone to be punished, even if it is themselves. Can you get how sad that is?
