  1. By the looks of the comments most have little understanding of the troop numbers at Gallipoli and who their actual leaders were. Historians now believe that the officers commanding did a reasonable job in the circumstances, in view of the fact they that had no maps and their intelligence was almost nil. There were British and French soldiers on that beach as well. There were 27,000 French and 115,000 British and dominion troops. There were some 60,000 Australians there and about 7,500 were killed. Many myths exist, and the facts are well hidden.
