  1. The backseat is "impractical?" According to the US Census two out of three adult Americans are 5'8" or less. (33% of males and 99% of females). Further, if Toyota is correct that the GR 86 provides 29.9" of legroom in the backseat that's the same amount provided in the third row of the Mazda CX-9 and the KIA Sorento midsize SUVs. Not especially generous but the GR 86 has more than two full inches greater legroom than Toyota's own Highlander's back row and less than an inch less than a Mustang! In short, I wouldn't recommend a cross-country trip in the back seat but enough room for most adults, kids and, in my family's case, a big dog for more than a short errand. Add a sunroof? Try fitting a helmet underneath the headliner with the loss off headroom to a helmet. Toyota is specifically making the GR 86 a track car, remember?
