@midnitestate That's not accidental. North Americans find "rugged luxury" very appealing. The rest of the world prefers their luxury unmixed with "ruggedness."

I'm inclined to agree. Hyundai builds some fine vehicles but their design language usually strikes me as somewhat "fussy."

The Telluride and Palisade are obviously more than cousins. More like fraternal twins. But the Palisade projects a sort of "urban" luxury vibe compared to the Telluride's "rugged" luxury feel. The reason lies in the different national markets at which each is aimed. The Telluride is exclusively designed for and built in North America. It's not available in Asian and European markets. Not even in Korea. The Palisade is built in Korea and aimed at a much wider international market (in addition to North America.) North Americans find "rugged" luxury very appealing. Not so much in the rest of the world where "pure" luxury has much greater appeal. In the US and Canada the Telluride competes with a number of mainstream SUV's with MSRP's of $50,000 (USD) or less. In most international markets the Telluride is a budget alternative to European luxury brands and is especially attractive to a growing middle class in Asian nations where there is no more obvious badge of economic success than a large luxury vehicle. (China, of course, is the 800 lb gorilla in that room.) Hyundai and KIA are especially adept at designing vehicles that share platforms and components while differing enough to appeal to different market segments. (e.g. Santa Fe vs Sorento, Stinger vs Genesis G70). The Palisade and Telluride are among the best examples.

Not only can you electronically raise/lower the third row seats, you can get through an entire chapter of War and Peace while you wait for the SLOWEST seat lowering system in the entire world! Oh, yeah...And you lose three cubic feet behind the rear seat to accommodate the plumbing the electronic seat control. Oh well, it's more "luxurious" to have a motor lower/raise the back seat than simply pushing and pulling the seat back, especially if you're built like a T-Rex. :)

@stephenplays560 Not quite. An Escalade is actually quite a bit larger at 204" compared to the Telluride at 197". The brick-like profile of the Telluride projects a larger image. It's actually less than an inch longer than a Pilot or an Ascent.

They will.

Both the KIA and the Hyundai are among the quietest brands on the market. Extensive use of acoustic glass and sound insulation.
