"Nothing was left over for the Stinger refresh"??? Beg your pardon. That's far from the truth. While the G70 stuck with its previous 2.0L turbo base engine, KIA replaced that same 4 banger with the new 2.5L turbo that's being placed as standard or optional in at least 8(!) KIA, Hyundai, and Genesis models. With 300 hp and 311 lb ft of torque, that's an increase of 48 hp and 51 lb ft of torque compared to the Stinger's previous (and the G70's holdover base engine.) Furthermore, the previous huge advantage in performance of the V6 Stinger GT models and the base GT-Line is reduced tremendously with the new base engine. (The new engine does 0-60 in 5.2 seconds according to KIA versus 4.7 seconds in the V6 models, a half second. KIA claimed the previous 4 banger's corresponding figure was 5.9 seconds. Other testers had it at about 6.4 seconds.) In contrast the "news" for the V6 engine in both the Stinger and the G70 is an increase of 3 hp. Whoopie! Considering that the US MSRP for the GT-Line Stinger hovers around $40,000, (USD) it's a screaming bargain compared to the V6 GT models and the Genesis G70 with the base engine.
