One further bit of useless trivia. The K900 is known as the K9 in Korea. When it was introduced in English speaking markets KIA apparently decided to avoid jokes about the car being a dog.

@mogradme8535 Although I'm inclined to agree, KIA is following the same pattern as Toyota and Nissan with AWD offered only on their non-performance models. The reason is obvious. Though self-styled "enthusiasts" always lust for more power, sales of midsize sedan performance versions are tiny. In the case of the Camry, for example, only 5% of all Camrys are fitted with V6 engines. And only 6000 TRD models (with the V6 engine) are slated for production in 2020 and 2021. That is a tiny fraction of overall Camry sales and Toyota undoubtedly believes (correctly) that adding AWD is simply believes it's not a profitable decision. Neither Nissan nor KIA with far fewer sales than Toyota are even less inclined to invest in models that will sit unsold on dealer lots.

Answer: Because comparative HP and Torque specs are largely meaningless, especially when they're so close.

@ChristianC-gy1ym KIA and Hyundai are interested in selling vehicles. And if being the "next vanilla Japanese car company" with sales five times their current level, they'll be happy.
