You shouldn't be too disappointed in not getting the K5 GT with its 2.5L turbo and DCT, Sarah. Putting 300 hp and over 300 lb ft of torque in a front-wheel drive vehicle without either AWD or some form of limited slip differential leaves two choices. Either don't take advantage of the additional power you're paying for or deal with wheel hop and torque steer when you try to access that power. Fortunately, there are a couple of alternatives. First, the 1.6L engine in the K5 in the EX or GT-Line trim offers less power than the K5 GT but it's power that can actually be used. Further, the GT-Line trim offers AWD that the GT lacks, eliminating the handling penalties under acceleration. Still lusting for that 2.5L turbo? The second alternative is the base model GT-Line KIA Stinger with RWD-biased AWD and a significantly more upscale interior and numerous bells and whistles with an MSRP around $40K plus TTL. Forego the AWD for a RWD model and MSRP drops by $2200. The K5 is an appealing choice but the K5 GT-Line is the sweet spot for a mainstream AWD midsize sedan with an MSRP around $35K (with the GT1 option package) and the GT-Line Stinger is a screaming bargain with an MSRP of $38K to $40K, in effect the transaction price of a fully loaded Accord 2.0L touring model or a Camry XSE V6, neither of which offer RWD or AWD.
