I'm inclined to believe that the optional turbo 4 in the Legacy and Outback is a better fit than in the two ton plus Ascent where almost all competitors (other than the CX-9) offer standard or optional V6's. Have to await tests to be sure but I wouldn't be surprised. Furthermore, one problem Subaru has always faced is the cost cutting in their interiors necessitated by standard full-time AWD. It appears they've stepped up to the plate to offer a much more premium interior and better features in the new Legacy and Outback, at least in the top trim levels. The competition is tough in the shrinking midsize sedan market (e.g. Accord and Camry) but it looks like the Legacy is finally something more than an "also ran" for customers not already loyal to the Subaru brand.
