Not sure where you're getting the claim that the redesigned Rogue is being described as a "midsize" SUV. At 183" it's definitely a compact crossover, a category with an average length of 180"-182". In fact, the current Rogue is 185" long, the same as the VW Tiguan. So the 2021 version is actually slightly smaller than the current model. Mainstream midsize SUV"s range from 188" (Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe) to 204" (Chevy Traverse) with almost all two row versions being 188" to 192" in length.
