  1. A very impressive compact performance sedan. I'm a KIA fan (I've owned two KIA Sorentos.) But if I were shopping in this category I think I'd opt for the Jetta GLI over the Forte GT. (I also own a VW GTI.) Can't speak personally as to the impact of an ECU tune in the Forte but I've owned two GTI's with APR Stage I tunes and the performance impact is (to say the least) significant, amounting to near 300 HP and torque with virtually no impact on reliability and durability in the magnificent EA888 2.0 L turbo VW engine. In terms of real world transaction pricing the GLI would run about 2K to 3K more than the Forte but I think the superior DSG in the VW combined with interior amenities and the electronic DSG and DCC chassis control would be worth it to me. Others would differ and I can understand why.

  2. I've put APR Stage 1 tunes in two GTI's, each with a DSG. Not even a single issue in over 40K miles. Nor have I heard of issues from other GTI owners.
