VW is betting, I think correctly, that sales success for the "ID" sub-brand won't be based on scalding performance that excites internet fanboys but on delivering an EV that looks, feels, and drives like a vehicle familiar to the vast majority of buyers. Not to say that the dual motor version won't be quick compared to ICE vehicles but the under 8 seconds 0-60 acceleration and $45,000 MSRP of the single motor version that happens to be the average transaction price for new vehicles in the US is no accident.

  2. No "collecting dust on the lot" of my local VW dealer. They sell every single ID4 they can get and have a long waiting list.
