  1. My first experience with a GTI was a MK2 followed by a long gap until the MK6, one of the last before production moved to Mexico. Like many GTI owners I was initially hesitant about the change of continents in terms of production but in 2018 I took the plunge with the MK7.5. Simply put, it's the best car I've ever owned. And that covers many, many vehicles. We're awaiting the introduction of the MK8 late this fall but I suspect I'll stick with my MK7.5. Trading it would feel like selling the family dog. I might feel differently if we Americans get the Club Sport version but that seems very unlikely.
