  1.  @paulburns1333  In 1976, the hottest it got anywhere in the UK was 35.9 degrees. Today we are anticipating temperatures 5 degrees hotter than that, shattering the UK heat record of 38.7 degrees from 3 years ago. It's a way more serious situation than 1976, and pretty much every year at the moment is hotter than 1976.
