@yankeetherebel My first exposure to English culture, believe it or not was Wallace and Gromit. Pioneer of stop motion animation, but more importantly those films exposed me to how British people speak and talk, even if it's just acting. This was back in the early 90's. Today I wouldn't visit it. Being arrested for having the wrong opinion is not a risk I'm willing to take.

@samuelscalise9686 Sounds like the 1960s - 1980s era in the United States, if not the UK. My dad was this way too. Worked manual labor in the 1970s when he didn't have a degree. Made good money off of it. People in my generation end up homeless slaving away at minimum wage jobs. Our parents generation also didn't have helicopter parents breathing over their shoulders, and neither was there a presence of social media.

@TheForkhandles Personally I wouldn't ask myself to travel to any time period past the 1980's. Too many hardships, strife, torment and abuse to be worth it. When Churchill had to defend his entire country and motivate his people during WW2, the British held drastic influence throughout the world. Hong Kong, India, the list goes on. As a history major I looked at old vintage films from the 1940s on London. It looked just gorgeous. Modern architecture is a joke.

@GODCONVOYPRIME California is a dystopian wasteland now. Cost of living is far too expensive. They're building new homes in Orange, California and to noone's surprise, they're aimed at the rich demographic. The average person is getting kicked over and over.
