As if seeing western AAA gaming get obliterated wasn’t enough. At the rate this is going I will be trashing this modern tech and going off grid. At least with actual possessions I don’t have to worry about big tech changing things under our noses.

At this rate, I will eventually just ditch modern tech and go off grid.

@wanted0 That explains it.

I’ve heard laptops heating really badly because Firefox was using too much memory.

Our modern dystopia.

Mozilla sold out.

The Linux kernel has them too.

Sounds like a Karen interviewed you.

@discordantduck1808 A liberal viewpoint 20 years ago in 2005 is now considered a right wing viewpoint today in 2025.

Look who is running California. It’s a one party state where one side holds absolute power. It alone has enough gross domestic product to be in the top 15 countries in the world.

Nothing lasts forever.

Literal leftists run it now. Can’t believe people are surprised at this.

The main reason I used Firefox back in 2004 was because it was fast and snappy in contrast to IE. Safari was the Mac equivalent and was just as meh. Firefox pioneered add ons and putting the user above the ads and profits. Did anyone else back in the late 2000’s or so use add ons for other browsers? The others were slow and clunky, Firefox wasn’t. Now it, like so many other software, have fallen to “lady bugs”. Hitting new tab and seeing the latest headline garbage of news should have been a warning to most.

I was using it since 2004.

Walter was awesome. Modern news media is a joke.

I think we all know who they are exactly.

That’s how this game works.

The red flag for me was when Adobe switched from users owning their copy of the software to subscriptions, including cloud storage. That was back in 2013. Things have gotten much worse in the years after under big tech.

@JustSomeDinosaurPerson The problem is everything depends on the internet. I’m tired of seeing this garbage but this is the world we live in now. It’s not the internet I enjoyed 20 years ago. Heck, not even the one 12 years ago. You paid one subscription, that was it. Now thanks to all these live-streaming services and so on you could pay 20 different subscriptions if you’re rich and willing enough. That’s not to mention these livestream services purposely leave a lot of media out so you pay subscriptions for the other media. You thought cable TV 10 - 15 years ago was bad? This is much worse.
1
@JustSomeDinosaurPerson It wasn’t free, you still had to pay a monthly fee. Older people can remember the internet being more costly, back when most didn’t have it or even personal computers. Today there are over a dozen streaming services that cost a monthly fee, and you need to be online. There are far more services that cost money that require internet. It’s no longer the one Internet fee anymore.

@donatelloDoesmachines13 That’s always been the case, but the internet is bigger than it’s ever been. This, there is much more of it.

@RichFreeman I just need to clarify that FOSS means free and open source software for anyone here who isn’t too familiar with tech that watches Louis. While on the subject, I’ve actually had FOSS suddenly get features removed and options taken away. Sometimes the interface gets switched around. One of them came out with a subscription model and when I went on the sub reddit to complain, the moderators were these women who were being overly rude. I uninstalled the software and never looked back.

20 years… it was a good run at least.

It’s part of the agenda.

Anything associated with the big G is bound to turn to garbage, sooner or later. They are evil. They stopped caring long ago. When you’re one of the most powerful corporations you don’t have to care, and that’s exactly what happened to Google. Having a good search engine and actually satisfying customers are things of the past.
