  3.  @autoimmunedefficiencysyndrome  Virtually anything to do with handymen and repair people is going away. My 75 year old Boomer dad went to a TV repair shop to get his TVs fixed. Back then, people were expected to know when to repair their own equipment, or call a repair man if the cost and time was too much on their own. Nowadays we not only throw away modern appliances like used electronics, corporations make it difficult to do any kind of repair work on your own. Apple removed their headphone jack because they learned they would make more money if people bought their crummy ear buds. They make iPhones difficult because honest tech repair people would likely charge less than if the customer were to buy a new phone from Apple instead.

  4. I almost gave up because I used to think the Boomers and their older Silent generation cohort were the only ones who had extensive knowledge of self repair. Younger people like Rossman give me hope. It’s apparent that these giant corporations don’t care about us.

  6.  @TheCurtisnixon  I got my iPhone 4 in 2011. Rossman’s oldest video is 12 years old. Yes, they actually allowed third party repair to buy the necessary supplies to do quality work. Apple eliminated the supply chain so now you’re forced to use their garbage services which means they can overcharge you for trash that could be spent on something else. The iPhone 15 is bloated, has way too much clutter on it, and is sold purely because it looks sleek. Modern tech is a looming disaster.

  7.  @TheCurtisnixon  Apple has been a garbage company for a long time. The iPod was a thing back in the day, but once that was over those of us who were observant realized that Apple was selling simply for the brand, not about how good their products were. Sadly as time goes on it’s becoming more difficult to find quality parts and components. I have early flat screen computer monitors from the early - mid 2000’s. They were built with better materials. Garbage today from companies like Samsung is lucky to last a few months without having either technical issues or design problems.

  8. Apple is too big and bloated. They don’t have to care because they’re a faceless corporation that just wants your money. Anybody who remotely knows circuitry and basic level electronics knows that putting a 40 - 50 volt line next to a data line is wrong. You can read a book on what electricians do for a living and you would easily figure out that these designs are made to fail. This results in the end consumer paying out more money towards the corporation who approved this garbage. That’s why third party repair is suffering because Apple doesn’t want these small businesses actually giving their customers a good price when it comes to repair. This was 100% intentional and was done by the big business heads at Apple.

  10. This is why I don’t trust big YouTubers in general because you have to practically sell out to the system. I heard of this Marcus guy, but everything I’ve seen from him seems off. This guy is a sellout. Nearly 10 times the number of subscribers that Louis has. Must feel great being a part of that 1% demographic while the vast majority of us are just trying to make a honest living, as costs continue to rise.

  11. ⁠ @estusflask982  There is a difference between someone like Louis, and this guy who tried to sell a subscription off of a phone app on wallpapers. The latter is completely bought off. People also need to understand that they have several deals that go beyond the scope of YouTube. This guy isn’t hurting for money at all. He’s rich, and he’s just the kind of person that Apple wants. If Louis isn’t blacklisted by Apple, he makes drastically less money for being raw and honest. That’s how it goes on YT. Most of the people I’m subbed to are those who aren’t afraid to be themselves. The guy who made the wallpaper app sold out, and it’s obvious.

  12. This guy has nearly 20 million subscribers and probably has a trunk for a money. If the price is right, many people out there will sell their grandmother to have a chance of buying that Ferrari sports car and big McMansion, with all the neat gadgets and luxury bathtubs.

  15. ⁠ @RealBLAlley  A friend of mine has an old computer monitor from 2003, one of the old flat screens. Still works great. The modern screens from Samsung and others are junk. Unbelievable how easy they can be damaged. The same argument can be made for dishwashers, washing machines, etc.
