  1. Most people associate the era of 1995 to 2005/2006 as the Steroid Era, but steroids were in baseball much sooner. Back in the 1980s. Jose Canseco played his rookie year in 1986. Him and Mark McGwire who came up a year later were popping steroids. They had huge forearms. You go back in time and watch those old MLB broadcasts from the 1970s, nobody looked freaking muscular. Everyone looked natural. Players had that slim look, even the bigger guys looked far more tame than the guys who came in the late 80s, early 90s. The 1994 baseball strike was the floodgates that opened for steroids. They brought a lot of people back into the ballparks. Especially young kids.

  3.  @yankees29  WWE was popping steroids like crazy in the 1980s. Hulk Hogan. The Ultimate Warrior and a multitude of others. Many of them paid the ultimate price: death. But…. I believe some were popping steroids as far back as the 1970s.

  4.  @yankees29  Wasn’t there a drug back in the early 1960s that a lot of Hollywood stars took back then? I mean it’s freaking Hollywood. Drugs and Los Angeles go together like bread and butter. I don’t know if this particular drug was used in sports. My dad who is 70 years old told me about it. Happened in the 1960s, so we’re talking a high point for drug culture anyway.
