The original Taoism wasn’t one set philosophy but a merge of different religions and beliefs, for example Yang zhu another Taoist philosopher advocates the complete opposite, to let yourself go and give in to your desires but give into them fully. To shed all metaphysical concepts and do whatever that maximizes your happiness even if it is against nature
