@MonsieurDean
of course this whole fucking premise is stupid since any civil war in america mostly won't be due to politics, it would much more likely be from race, no matter the politics.
or simply by states, for example I know 100% that majority of leftists fucking hate biden, especially after the war on gaza and his support for israel, just ask any of hassans base or people who watch second thought, they would absolutely not join the right but they would form their own factions, since they absolutely also hate "liberals" which they don't even consider right wing, also you left out groups like atomwaffen and the far right people, who actually hate christians, since they think they are "j*w worshippers" and are pagan etc. those guys would likely have their own factions too, and each of the church factions might split up as well, and difference races and ethnicities would split too.
in other words, a REAL FUCKIN CIVIL WAR WOULD BE LIKE THE SYRIAN CIVIL WAR, or CHINESE WARLORD CONFLICTS, where THOUSANDS of different ethnicities and groups and local warlords fight it out in a free for all, and the government would simply collapse and masses would defect, not to their political affiliations but their smaller friend groups or family etc.

@MonsieurDean it won't be like fucking vietnam or afghanistan because americans look like each other,
the ira was able to pretend to be british to sneak into england and perform massive attacks, and the british basically didn't really have any way against this.
you fucking forget that the first second things go awry, due to the mix concentration of politics in even dominant states, most people can just pretend to be the opposition.
you could just pretend to be a captured democrat, and blend in, for example if civil war starts, both stranded oppositions on both sides, would likely have mass defections or be captured, this goes both ways like your new york examples,
politics are fluid, at gun point any one could change what they believe in, and in crisis people could act very well.
