That seems illogical. Running a surplus should go back to the population that made that surplus, after all obligations are paid. If the politicians are doing well enough to send checks out to everyone, they will be reelected, right? That's the reward

5th largest economy... it's not per capita. It's a huge amount of productive land, age has cornered some really profitable markets like entertainment and tech. It actually leads the US in a lot of the ways you're talking about, like legislation and popular opinion/culture. You sound ill/misinformed. You should get that checked out.

@FullLengthInterstates i would consider putting some money away for the future as an obligation, I'm sure there's a legal name for a "rainy day fund".

@PBoyle the fact that individuals have to pay to clean up their information but banks pay nothing for data breaches is yet another clue that the rot is conplete in the US

@travisadams4470 i was being sarcastic. The whole state will be Austin because of the influx, and you'll double your electricity need. Better convince Gavin to get juice from out of state.

@quickstart90909 Florida has caps on increases and homestead exemptions. But then there's some benefit for 1st-time buyers. Also some penalty fur selling the house w/in 2 years (house flipping was insane here) all of it slows down sales but we have so many elderly, that putting breaks on property taxes is really useful, such as this year with home prices going up so much

@davidnicholson6680 Europeans don't understand how many US states are bigger than their countries, and then wonder why USians don't travel internationally

@Jim-Tuner well if you think $65 B "doesn't matter", can I have it? Silicon Valley skews the numbers but it's not nothing.
