@c0mpu73rguy excellent point. Ppl who assume all Africans are black are willfully ignoring thousands of years of conquest. Even Egyptians 3000 years ago, were very mixed race, with the northern natives being more semitic and, later, arabic, and controls by the Greeks at the time, and they conquered Nubia who had gone back and forth with Ethiopia and Egypt, who are very dark skin. You see these in the murals and other depictions of the Nubians, esp. in depictions of northern vs southern Egyptians.

@lonelystrategos I believe the child's letter was found in a rubbish pile, which was a goldmine for anthropology/historians bc it gaves so much insight to the common ppl, esp the tradesmen who needed to itemize their inventory and conduct business. But I love History's Oldest Complaint Letter. This copper is inferior! You have wronged me!

The problem is modern western ppl tend to combine them. The whole point of the "trad movement" of the last 70ish years is that the man is in charge and the women serve the men. Along with the "wife bad" jokes are a lot of other ingrained like "women's work" that's looked down upon even though it's just as valuable as "man's work". Then you throw in the the Tates of the world and its easy to throw them both out together

In High School (year 12) we had to dissect a cat for about 8 weeks. As you might imagine a LOT of kids were uncomfortable so the teacher said you can take the tests but participation is X% of your grade as each day there will be worksheets. Only one student refused and broke her straight A record. (I named my tabby Tom and tucked him into his coat at the end of the class with loving care to keep him juicy)

@Benevolent_Fafnir well beating your wife was still legal until last century in places, but i don't think that's a thing that matriarchal societies had. Idk, it's not commonly mentioned, unlike LEO famously still beating their wives. It does seem to get conflated a lot in loving memory. Also, for the longest time women couldn't own property or even testify in court. Oh! Millions of women can't drive or even go shopping by themselves. It does seem to be linked in recent times.... it seems that modern patriarchy seems to isolate and control women, where its popular, rather that protect the mother of the children and the homemaker. Just a subtle difference there

@Netist_ im often the only woman on myv team and the amount of dick measuring contests between these types is ridiculous.These guys always have to be right, always want to be told info but never share it, make you re-rewrite your code until they take your branch and make a small change just so their name is on the PR. Insufferable.

 @TheSuperappelflap in IT, we'd call those ppl Engineers and while they have tons more experience, they do not have higher rank. Unfortunately, English is ambiguous.
