@xman7695 fromwhat ive read, the US replacement rate comes from immigration, not births. Except for Utah and Alabama. Roll Tide!

Those stats exist. They haven't used that measure for 30 years tho bc it made them look bad. We use U3. But we used to use U5 or U6, which includes ppl looking for work. Those numbers are shocking, and you see why they switched.

This is what I've seen. Outsourcing has its own issue so it's so much easier to hire a serf that you can micromanage. And every few years, layoff your senior ppl as soon as the H1B know just enough. Been through this 2 times.

@thunderb00m every indian i know is VERY nervous about renewing their contract much less finding another one. But I've only worked in the Southeastern US-- it could be easier on the west coast. Edit: my colleagues are esp. nervous since the Indian lottery changes last year or maybe it was '22. One guy went home to get married, and couldn't come back bc of these changes and his documents were no longer correct. Lost everything that was here: apt, job, car, etc

@andre1987eph my dude, ppl of low means can not rent less that $1000/mo AND be able to get to work. In my metro (FL), you'd have to live about an hour's drive away from the jobs, and a car costs money. tl;dr: FYI, your advice comes off out of touch.

@NiaWorldwide not quite "The American Dream", is it?

@stevechance150 i hear you but at the low end, it really affects core productivity. Look into Japan/China right now for why it's not only about the retirees, which is the immediate problem, but why the next 25 will such too. Low birthrates mean "not enough workers" (in qoutes because it depends on who you ask but it sucks, in general)

@NiaWorldwide as a USAian, no no enough support. A lot of ppl will suffer, worldwide bc i think we're in a global contraction.

@det_tf2 the line is 6mo. Fyi. If you tried to find work in the last month. Otherwise you're "discouraged"

@Speakout555 LOTS of middle class are being laid off and pushed out. No one is getting raises, only the super rich are seeing more money and they are catered to.

Good job. It's hard being the first to go to college in your family.

I wonder when we'll get the guiotines out. It's been way too long

@Demmrir if you're making more than $60k, it's no brainer.

@NTM567 my needs were like $200 at publix for a couple weeks' worth of stuff Edit: bc the bots are out: it was a monthly resupply of water, wraps, some meat and cheese, and dinner that night: sushi ($10ea--best part of Murica), salad, alcohol ($15). Everything else was waters, and sandwich stuff (replace D tier white bread with B tier protein wraps)

@illiiilli24601 vi is a text editor that only uses keyboard combos to do stuff. It's a huge shock to students to learn it. But, once you do, it's like playing the piano and you can do a lot without having to use a UI menu. Vim was its successor that was easier to use.

Yep. My boomer uncle "handled" my inheritance when his uncle died. I foubd out a year later when he was trying to sell the family farm out from under his uncle's family. Boomers make selfish decisions and then double down when they realize they screwed up.

@justcommenting4981 so, I'm in Florida,USA. USAians will run out of milk, if it's too expensive to transport. I'm sure there are others.
